Watch: NSA Ajit Doval assess ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir, interacts with locals in Anantnag

In a video shared by ANI, the NSA is seen interacting with people who came out for Eid shopping.

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, who is currently in Kashmir to asses the ground situation following the government's decision to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into union territories, on Saturday met and interacted with locals in Anantnag. 

In a video shared by ANI, the NSA is seen interacting with people who came out for Eid shopping. He also had a chat with shepherds who were out selling sheep for sacrifice on Eid which will be celebrated across India on Monday. 

The administration has assured that people will not face any problem on the day of the festival.

Doval had visited Shopian and met with some local people and also shared a meal with them earlier on Wednesday, just a day after the Parliament ratified the government's move. 

On Friday again, the NSA visited downtown Srinagar and spent over two hours in the area interacting with troops and local people.

Doval spent his afternoon with the troops and had lunch with CRPF personnel.

The NSA was seen interacting with locals and roaming on the streets, mingling with children, 'maulvis,' workers, and passersby.

 

In a video, which has gone viral on social media, the NSA is seen mingling with shepherds at a 'mandi' in Anantnag. Someone is heard asking one of the shepherds if he knows who is he interacting with. The man replies in negative.

 

Doval is then heard saying, "That is not a problem (Nahi, Wo Koi Baat Nahi)."

In another video, the NSA is heard asking locals if they are facing any problems. The locals are then seen complaining about lack of network connectivity, saying that they are not able to talk to anyone. 

 

The NSA was also seen chiding a child on whether he was happy at schools being closed.

3. Valley limping back to normalcy after abrogation of Article 370

The Valley was limping back to normalcy with the town witnessing normal traffic as people thronged ATMs to collect cash for the upcoming festival. Autos and cars were seen plying on the roads and several of the shops remained open.

People in the Valley on Saturday came out in large numbers for Eid shopping. There were queues outside ATMs and rush in the markets. 

 

Governor Satyapal Malik said all arrangements for the Eid have been done and the administration will allow some relaxations for the festival.

 

"As far as Eid is concerned, since Prime Minister himself spoke about it...we will give some relaxations before and on Eid. We will celebrate Eid in a good manner. I congratulate all those who celebrate Eid in the state through you," he said.
