Days after expressing disappointment over the party's decision to reinstate men who misbehaved with her, Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi has quit Congress. She has sent her resignation letter to Rahul Gandhi and has left all the WhatsApp groups of the party.  Later in the day, Priyanka Chaturvedi joined Shiv Sena in presence of Uddhav Thackeray.

In the morning she left the AICC communication WhatsApp group and later removed the reference of being AICC spokesperson from Twitter. Senior leaders reached out to her but she had already made the decision.

In just a few years, Priyanka Chaturvedi rose through the Congress ranks to become one of the most recognisable faces of the party in the electronic media. She was a regular in TV debates and earned plaudits across the aisles for the ability to put her point properly.

She was also extremely popular on Twitter and her tweet wars with Smriti Irani were closely followed. She recently even sang a parody of Kyunki Saath Bhi Bahu Thi to mock Smriti Irani's 'inconsistencies' in filing poll affidavits. When Congress had a minuscule presence on Twitter, it was Priyanka Chaturvedi and some others who held the fort and managed to pose counter-point to BJP's organised social media campaign through leaders and digital foot soldiers.

National Spokesperson of Congress, Priyanka Chaturvedi, on Wednesday expressed unhappiness over the party's decision to take back some of its old timers who were expelled for misbehaving with her.

"Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in @incindia over those who have given their sweat and blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate," tweeted Priyanka.

Some local party leaders had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka while she was attending a press conference in Mathura a few days back. Congress had initially suspended  them out but recently taking the elections into consideration they were reportedly taken back.

Their rejoining saddened the national spokesperson and she has, reportedly, conveyed her dissatisfaction to the senior leaders too.

Speculation is agog that the young Congress leader wanted to contest elections either from Mathura, her home town or from any seat in Mumbai, where she is currently working for the party.

Chaturvedi though on Twitter has denied the possibility that she was hoping to get party ticket but the speculations refused to die. Now, her drastic decision to quit the party will only amplify the conspiracy theorists.
