Film actress and Rampur BJP candidate Jaya Prada on Monday said Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan should not be allowed to contest the ensuing elections, adding that his "vulgar remarks" will not deter her from contesting polls from Rampur.
The actor-turned-politician's remark comes a day after Khan while addressing a rally, claimed that the former wears "Khaki underwear."
"If he (Khan) thinks I will leave Rampur due to his fear, his comments cannot deter me. And I will not leave Rampur," Jaya told reporters here. "He shouldn't be allowed to contest elections. Because if this man wins, what will happen to democracy? There will be no place for women in society."
The BJP leader also said she will defeat Khan in the parliamentary elections, adding that this is not the first time he is making such remarks.
"Do you not have a mother, daughter or wife at home? Do you behave with them like this? Azam Khan sahab, you listen. I will fight and win the polls. I will tell you who is Jaya Prada after winning the elections," said a visibly angry Jaya.
Questioning SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's silence on Khan's remark, she said, "I consider Akhilesh as my younger brother. But what did he do when Azam was using these type of words against me?"

Azam Khan on Monday clarified that he did not make any objectionable remarks against film actor and BJP candidate Jaya Prada, fighting the Lok Sabha polls from Rampur against him. Khan's clarification came after he allegedly while addressing a poll campaign rally here, made a below-the-belt remark against Prada. "I brought her (Jaya Prada) to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underp****," Khan said on Sunday. Asserting that he did not name anyone, the Samajwadi leader told ANI that he would withdraw his candidature from the ongoing polls if proved guilty.
"I have said that people took time to know real face in reference to a man once said that he brought 150 rifles with him and if he sees Azam, he would have shot him dead. My leaders also did a mistake. Now, it has been revealed that he has an RSS pant on his body. Short is worn by men," Khan told ANI. "I was a nine-time MLA from Rampur and been a minister. I know what to say. "If anyone proves that I have named anyone and insulted anyone by name. If it is proved, I will step back from the elections," he added. Khan also accused the media of misinterpreting his comments. "I am disappointed. Media did not like me; I also did not like them. They have caused damage to the country," he said.

Drawing a comparison between mythological character Bhishma Pitahmah and Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, Union Minister and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Monday sought Mulayam's response on the 'Khaki underwear' comment made by his party leader Azam Khan against film actor and Rampur BJP candidate Jaya Prada.
Referring to Draupadi's cheer-haran (disrobing) - a scene from epic Mahabharata in which Pandavas lost a bet to their usurping cousins - Swaraj appealed Mulayam to not remain silent on the matter.
"Mulayam Bhai - You are the father figure of Samajwadi Party. In front of you, Draupadi is being disrobed in Rampur. Do not make the mistake of being silent like Bhishma@yadavakhilesh Smt.Jaya Bhaduri, Mrs.Dimple Yadav," she tweeted in Hindi.

The actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada had won the Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2004 and 2009 on SP ticket but later she was expelled on account of alleged anti-party activities in 2010. She had joined the BJP last month. The election for 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state is scheduled to be conducted in all seven phases.
