The old bajri sand that bordered the Rajpath has been replaced with brand new red granite pathways covering a total area of 1,10,457 square metres.
It is believed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon unveil the monument of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and officially open the newly renovated Central Vista Avenue. The plan is to place the statue of Netaji in the overhanging structure behind India Gate.
The enormous Central Vista redevelopment project undertaken by the Modi administration includes the reconstruction of Central Vista Avenue.

The government has chosen to enhance and modernise Central Vista Avenue by replanting trees and landscaping it so that it is more welcoming to locals and visitors alike.

The Center needed to make the area safer for pedestrians and simpler to navigate for vehicles. In addition to catering to vendors' needs, the design keeps the Vista's original layout, geometry, and architectural character intact while accommodating the needs of major events on a national scale with little interruption.

The objective is to extend the green cover from 3,50,000 square metres to about 3,90,000 square metres. Ten different areas will have proper public amenities including restrooms, water fountains, and snack bars set up for tourists and visitors.

Rajpath and the canals now have enough footpaths. In order to improve accessibility to parking and public services at 12 convenient places, pedestrian walkways are being constructed across lawns, with low-level bridges across canals.

On February 4, 2021, Hardeep Singh Puri, the minister of housing and urban affairs for the Union government, led the bhoomi poojan ceremony for Central Vista Avenue at India Gate.
