The Congress was set to made a comeback in Chhattisgarh while trends showed the party ahead in Rajasthan and locked in a tantalising, see-saw battle in Madhya Pradesh.
The upbeat workers of the Congress party started celebrating their win as it was clear that the party was inching towards 2/3rd majority in Chhattisgarh and is reaching the simple majority mark in Rajasthan. Results in Madhya Pradesh are too close to call with a neck-and-neck between the two traditional rivals.
In Telangana, the TRS was headed towards a landslide victory while MNF snubbed the Congress in Mizoram.
Considering the BJP is in power in all three Hindi heartland states, it is considered a major win for the Congress. Besides party's win it was also prestige battle for some candidates in the five states.
