In India, many people believe it is perfectly kosher to abuse relatives of celebrities if you don't like them. This is particularly true in the day and age of internet anonymity where anyone can get away by virtually saying anything thanks to lax attitude of enforcement authorities. Thus many trolls found it perfectly acceptable to personally attack Ravichandran Ashwin's wife Prithi and their daughters after Monday's IPL encounter between KXIP and Rajasthan Royals.

Royals won the match by 14 runs but not before R Ashwin Mankaded Jos Buttler, who looked well set to win the match for Royals. This lead to massive backlash on Twitter with many users feeling Ashwin violated the spirit of the game. While that is a matter of debate, but no sane person will perhaps justify the trolling received by R Ashwin's daughters and wife.

A small kd was called 'future cheat' by grown-up men (mostly) just because they didn't like a piece of action ( which was perfectly legal btw) on the cricket field.  Talk about misplaced priorities!

Speaking about the dismissal, Ashwin said in post-match presser, ""No real argument on that and it was pretty instinctive. I didn't even load and he just left the crease. We ended on the right side of the coin, but I definitely think that those are game-changing moments and batsmen need to be wary of it".

To his credit, Ashwin has always advocated for batters to mind their crease when bowlers are delivering the ball. So one certainly can't accuse him of double standards.

Meanwhile RR Brand Ambassador Shane Warne hit out at Ashwin saying Mankading Buttle was 'low act'.

First she tweeted after getting bombarded with many hateful messages.

Later she praised Instagram for being a relatively saner medium. Unfortunately, the joy was short lived.

Soon there were many hateful comments on Instagram where people attacked a kid for no fault of her own

Even in the first, trolls have targeted Prithi Ashwin for 'errors' of ommissions and commissions done by her husband, R Ashwin. Once during a famous test against West Indies, where Ashwin's controversial strategy while batting faced criticism, Prithi too faced the heat.

Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin has no regrets in 'Mankading' a set Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler, saying these sort of moments are game-changers and a batsman "need to be wary of it" before leaving the crease early.
Ashwin sparked off a big controversy on Monday when he mankaded Buttler, the first to be dismissed in such a manner in the history of the Indian Premier League.

A desperate Ashwin did the unthinkable when he mankaded Buttler in controversial circumstances in the 13th over with the batsman going strong at 69 off 43 balls. The dismissal is sure to raise fresh debate over the spirit of the game as the off-spinner didn't give the Englishman a prior warning.

But Ashwin said he was completely within his rights to execute such a dismissal, which completely turned the match in Kings XI's favour.

"No real argument on that and it was pretty instinctive. I didn't even load and he just left the crease. We ended on the right side of the coin, but I definitely think that those are game-changing moments and batsmen need to be wary of it," Ashwin said after Kings XI beat Rajasthan by 14 runs.
