India vs Australia 2nd Test: ​ Australia lost three key wickets to an improved India attack during a tough middle session on the opening day in the second test on Friday, as the Perth Stadium pitch came roaring to life after lunch. A stuttering Australia reached tea at 145 for three. Virat Kohli then pulled off a stunning catch after tea to send back Peter Handscomb as Australia lost their fourth wicket. Australia are 1-0 down in the series after losing the opener in Adelaide.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bat against India in the second Test of the four-match series on Friday. The second Test match is being played at New Optus Stadium in Perth .

After a historic win in Adelaide, India will be hoping to continue their terrific form in the second Test in Perth. The Indian side took 1-0 lead in the four match series after a 31-run win at Adelaide Oval- their first Test victory in Australia since 2008.

Tim Paine has won the toss and he decides to bat first. Indian captain Virat Kohli says he would have batted first, but says they can take advantage of the grass.

While India have made two changes, Australia go with the same 11 as Adelaide. India are going without a full-time spinner as Umesh Yadav comes in for R Ashwin while Hanuma Vihari replaces Rohit Sharma at No. 6.

India scripted a historic win in Adelaide when they defeated the home side by 31 runs. The match was settled on the fifth day after Australia tail defied Indian bowling attack for some time. Mohammed Shami is bowling really well. He strikes Aaron Finch on pads but Nigel Llong says it is not out. India take the DRS but it was going over the wicket.

Shami hits the pads next ball. Llong's finger stays down again and India don't risk losing the other review. In replay we realise, they should have taken the review. It was hitting the stumps.

Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris have completed 50 runs for the first wicket. They have been solid so far against the Indian pacers with only Shami's one over causing any memorable problems. It will be interesting to see how India will cope with the good start. 

 

Remember, India don't have the option of Ashwin to fall back to.

Australia total and the partnership are past 100 now- Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris have blunted India's four-pronged pace attack so far. The duo has defied predictions of a bowler's paradise at the new Perth Stadium and justifed captain Tim Paine's decision to bat first.

India on the other hand must be regretting the choice of their playing 11 already.

Shaun Marsh and Travis Head have built a good partnership since that sensational catch to keep Australian innings from folding. They have added more than 50 runs for the fifth wicket and taken Australia past 200. 

 

If these two stay till the end- Australia will feel good about the day. On the other hand, India need another moment of magic to tilt the balance in their favour.
