When the trailer of De De Pyaar De was dropped earlier this month, it not only made people laugh but also fume with anger. The movie starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role has Alok Nath as a supporting character. This did not go well with the people and on social media, they even started a trend of banning the film. No action has been taken by the makers yet and even Ajay had claimed at the trailer launch that the movie was shot before he was accused.

Even the official Twitter handle of #MeToo India movement wrote, "While women continue to be disbelieved, ridiculed and shoved back into silence, men accused of sexual violence continue to find work. @ajaydevgn @itsBhushanKumar I hope you know Alok Nath has been accused of rape and an FIR filed. Disgusting that he’s part of De De Pyar De. When it came to casting someone for that role, what made it absolutely necessary to pick a man accused of violence and harassment by multiple women? Is it a message that says you don’t care? What will it take for artists to stand up in support of women who call out predators? What stopped @itsBhushanKumar from dropping him once the allegations were raised? This is incredibly disappointing and triggering for survivors who’ll inevitably chance upon the trailer and the news."

Now, Tanushree Dutta, who created a base for #MeToo movement in India, reacted on Alok Nath being a part of De De Pyaar De. Even Vinta Nanda, who accused Alok Nath of raping her also slammed the makers.

In a statement, Tanushree Dutta said, "Tinsel town is full of liars, show-offs and spineless hypocrites. And it seems by a large public consensus that the signpost is pointing currently at Ajay Devgn. During the #MeToo movement in India, the actor had tweeted and sworn never to work with those accused and now in a surprising and convenient turn of events is working with rape and harassment accused Alok Nath and supporting him to make a comeback to Bollywood."

"When it comes to the box office, nobody [in the industry] follows any other religion. There is no right and wrong. Their politics and ideologies go for a toss. Their reluctance to take action is the giveaway [of their intentions]."

Vinta Nanda added, "The audience is the only agency that can reject the film. If it doesn't, then it goes to show how regressive we are as a society. But I am optimistic about the young generation. They will give sleepless nights to all these men and women, who are not able to take a stand."

Vinta Nanda further said, "Few women have the kind of inner strength that Tanushree has. I don't know any among those around me. Most are afraid to even meet me, lest they be viewed as supporters of the movement."

At the trailer launch of De De Pyaar De, when Ajay Devgn was asked about Alok Nath being a part of the film, he had stated, "This is not the right place to talk about it. And jinki aap baat kar rahe hai woh film uske pehle complete hui (the film was completed before the allegations surfaced against the concerned person)."

In October 2018, Ajay Devgn took to his Twitter page and supported the #MeToo movement in India. He tweeted, "I’m disturbed by all the happenings with regards to #MeToo. My company and I believe in providing women with utmost respect and safety. If anyone has wronged even a single woman, neither ADF nor I will stand for it."
