In Pics: From Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh to Priyanka Chopra - Who said what on Independence Day 2018

Shah Rukh Khan shared an adorable picure of the apple of his eyes, his youngest son AbRam - holding a flag, on Twitter and wrote along side. "‘Tum hi Bhavishya ho mere Bharat Vishal ke, Iss Desh ko rakhna mere bachhon sambhaal ke...’ Happy Independence Day to all. Celebrating at home with our future generation of gentle, kind & pure Indians."

As is the case on most of the special occasions, Amitabh Bachchan was among the first few to wish fellow countrymen as soon as the clock struck August 15, 2018. He shared a poem of his father, late Harivansh Rai Bachchan and captioned it writing, "स्वततंत्र हैं हम ; और स्वतंत्र दिवस की अनेक अनेक शुभकामनाएँ  ; और पूज्य बाबूजी की एक कविता इस अवसर पे "

Abhishek Bachchan took to his Instagram account to share this image of the Indian tricolour and wrote a special message along side, "Let's all take a pledge to work towards a better future and raise the flag of our nation higher!

Alia Bhatt, who's riding high on the success of her last release, Raazi - which gave us another patriotic song this year, wrote a few lines from the song, Ae Watan on Twitter and shared, "Ae watan watan mere abaad rahe tu.. Main jahaan rahoon jahaan mein yaad rahe toon.. Happy Independence Day"

Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhwan found the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day this year, by promoting the local artisans and crafts. They shared the specially created Indian flag by Indian embroiders. In a small video, they revealed that the three colours of the flag were created using three Indian art forms (of embroidery) - Sarron with Chikankari, White with Phulkari and Green with Kashida .

Arjun Kapoor took to his Twitter account to share a picture and wrote along side, "This Independence Day, let us all pledge to become a better citizen, a better child to our mother India. Ranveer Singh shared these two pictures on his Twitter account and captioned them writing, "जय हिंद !!!!!!!!", "Our young nation is the very future of the world !!!!! #HappyIndependenceDay"

Karan Johar shared his thoughts on Independence day in a tweet and later, also shared a picture of himself with his kids Yash and Roohit against the natinal flag. He wrote, "Respect before Love .....Compassion before judgement .....gratitude before entitlement ....be this proud person ....be a proud INDIAN! #HappyIndependenceDay"

Shahid Kapoor took to his Twitter account to share a small video, urging everyone to take a pledge to save electricity and be better citizens of the country. He captioned it writing, "Happy independence day you guys. Be the change."

Addressing the issue of women's safety and animal cruelty, John Abraham told PTI, "As a democracy, we are magical and doing things which are fantastic and in terms of leadership, we are trying to clean up the system. The negative, I feel, is we have nurtured fringe elements from both sides, if you look at the communal space, that doesn't go well for the country. But the biggest negative is that this country isn't safe for women and animals. When you go out and someone asks, 'Hey is your country rape capital of the world?', it hurts."

Manoj Bajpayee added, "Women's safety, animal welfare, human rights welfare, all these things are becoming a 'no-issue' for any government. It is a worrying situation where culprits are let off. You feel ashamed with each and every rape of a child or woman. We feel ashamed and scared when human rights are taken away. It has happened during all the governments. It is high time for all of us put our voice forward strongly, if you don't do that, nothing will happen."

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja took to her Twitter account and shared a beautiful message by Sarojini Naidu, "What does it mean to be free? Our forefathers fought to create a beautiful & safe home for us. Priyanka Chopra shared a very strong message on her social media pages on the occasion of Independence Day. She shared a small clip with her voice-over, urging people to celebrate their differnece.
