Do relationships die?

The news of Hrithik Roshan and Suzzane separating went down with most people with a twinge of sadness. Hrithink and Suzzane weren’t the most happening or poster kind of couple. This is not a couple who paparazzi chased; they were not the most sought after couple on the red carpet. Then why is the news of this separation invoking some remorse?

Celebrity couples lead rather stressful lives. The lights, bulbs and limelight demand correct appearances that may put stress on personal lives. Couples have to put their best foot forward at least for the photographers. They have to put aside their personal differences and rise above situation in order to smile and appear lovey-dovey in public. They must appear together at social events and premieres. They must put their fights and insecurities behind and lead the cameras to believe that all is hunky dory.

In the particular case of Hrithik and Suzzane, it appeared like they had a rock solid relationship.

Two beautiful kids, a loving wife, doting parents, a father watching out for his career, good looks, reasonably good acting talent — Hrithik seemed to have it all.

It also appeared like he made the right and timely investments for his personal relationships too.

Hrithik took the biggest risk of his career when he decided to tie the knot while he was riding high on the wave of popularity, right after the release of his first film – Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. 17 years ago, when being a married man in Bollywood was not the most sought after image, he still decided to take the plunge.

At chat shows and Bollywood glamour magazines, Hrithik came across as a dedicated man, the stray link up being with co-star Barbara for their film ‘Kites’, which was also said to be a advertisement and marketing stunt for the success of the film, since he was going through a lean phase in his career.

Whatever the truth is, when relationships go wrong, it is because of a trail of things; separation is a culmination of issues and cannot be pinned to any one incident or person. More often than not, however, if there is a love triangle, people are pushed to take the drastic step of separation far more quickly than otherwise. In this case, Suzzane’s friendship with Arjun Rampal is coming under the scanner as the final straw on the camel’s back.

When relationships go wrong, there is a lot of mud-slinging and name calling. Maintaining dignity, self-respect and proper decorum will go a long way. After all, a 17-year relationship will never die.

Hrithik and Suzzane will always stay connected because of their children. Keeping objectivity will help avoid legal hassles and washing laundry in public.

So far so good, both sides have maintained a fair sense of balance. Here’s hoping that Hrithik and Suzzane will keep their act together as the going gets tough in the future.
