Football club Salgaocar ropes in 19 new faces

Salgaocar who were in drop zone in the first phase of the I-League, put their best performance in the second phase to finish sixth in the I-League, have recruited 19 players to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.

Notable among them is Ghanian striker, Yusif Ansari who has scored 100 goals in Indian football has filled the place of Ekene Ikenwa who has moved to East Bengal.

While Brazilian defender, Lucian Sobrosa has been retained as the captain of the team.

The third foreigner is Ryuji Sueoka, in the Asian player's slot.

The other new signing are: Arnab Das Sharma, Karanjit Singh, Monotosh Ghosh, Jagdeep Singh, Daniel Vales, Jaspal Parmar, Sayed Farid, N Kali Alaudwen, Khelemba Meitei, Chinta Rao, Rino Antao, Sohail Akhtar, W Tomba Singh, K Thoi Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Marcus Masarenhas, Subhash Singh.

This year, Salgaocar plan to field a third divison side in the GFA League consisting of their youth team players to keep them active.

Karim Bencherifa, coach of Salgaocar team believes this will give them valuable senior match experience.

He has all also invited some of the junior players for pre-season training camp that will benefit them as they can break into the senior squad in the future, stated Karim Bencherifa.
