Cameras outside the International Space Station captured footage of Category 5 Hurricane Patricia, the most powerful hurricane on record in the Western Hemisphere, according to the National Hurricane Center.

NASA released video of the storm making its way towards Mexico on Friday, forcing resort hotels to evacuate guests and residents to stockpile supplies in the city of Puerto Vallarta and major port city of Manzanillo. On Saturday, Patricia weakened to a Category 1 hurricane and caused less damage than feared."The initial reports confirm that damage has been less than would be expected of a hurricane of this magnitude,"  President Enrique Pena Nieto stated.

On Sunday, torrential rainstorms battered Louisiana on Sunday after pounding southeastern Texas as the remnants of Hurricane Patricia converged with a second storm.
