Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) officials' holiday mood on Tuesday was cut short when the state education minister stunned them with his revelation that the physics paper for Class XI exams scheduled for the next day has leaked. The minister also had a copy in his hand to prove his statement.

More than lakh students will take the physics paper exam across the state. It is worth mentioning here that the GSHSEB for last three years has been setting question papers for the Class XI exams while the respective schools conduct it.

According to sources, state education minister Ramanlal Vora, paper in hand, informed the GSHSEB officials on Tuesday that the physics question paper has leaked.

However, when DNA talked to Vora, the minister refused to comment on the pretext that he is not in a position to utter even a single word because of the prevalent code of conduct imposed for the upcoming general election.

Sources further said that soon after the minister told the officials about the incident, board officials jumped into action and have asked the school authorities to collect new set of questions. While the GSHSEB will be send the new set of questions in the rural areas by midnight, schools in the city will receive them by 6 am only.

According to sources, the question paper has leaked from one of the Ahmedabad-based schools around two days ago. However, no officials confirmed the information. One of the board officials however, exuded confidence that the board will easily find out which school had done the mischief. "We will collect the old question paper (leaked one) from the schools and if the set is found open we will punish them, since no school is permitted to break open the seal before the exams," said one of the board officials.
