BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has approved a scheme that provides insurance cover to all government school students at a premium of just Rs one per student, for 2008-09.
        
"The students would be insured round the clock throughout the year. The period of insurance has been fixed between 21 August 2008 to 20 August, 2009", an official release said.
        
The District Education Officers concerned are sending the premium amount based on the strength of government schools in their respective areas.
         
The insurance cover is being provided by Cholamandal MS General Insurance Company Limited, Indore.
       
As per the insurance cover, Rs 50,100 would be given in case a student is killed in an accident or loses his vision. Same amount would be given to a student who loses both his hands or legs.
        
Rs 40,000 would be given to a student who sustains permanent injury in one limb while Rs 500 would be given on loss or damage to books.
        
Rs 5000 would be provided to the student for treatment in case of an accident and Rs 1000 more if his cycle goes missing at the time of accident, it said.
