BHEL bags Rs 506 cr contract from ONGC

NEW DELHI: State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd on Thursday said it has bagged a Rs 506 crore contract from Oil Natural Gas Corporation for upgradation of drilling rigs.
    
As per the contract, BHEL would upgrade 12 onshore drilling rigs and supply new rig equipments to ONGC, a company statement said.
    
The scope of the order also includes overhauling of rotating and hoisting equipment, revamping electrical systems and site erection and commissioning of these equipment, it said.
    
The mechanical work would be done at BHEL's Hyderabad plant and the electrical jobs would be undertaken at the Bhopal plant.
    
BHEL has so far supplied 84 rigs, of these 71 rigs have been supplied to ONGC and 13 to Oil India Ltd (OIL).
    
The company recently won Rs 3,588 crore turnkey order to set up a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) at Bawana through International Competitive Bidding. The order has been placed by Pragati Power Corp and also involves supply and commissioning of four gas turbines for Pragati-III CCPP.
    
BHEL would take up designing, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning and civil works in the project. The company would commission two steam turbine generator sets and four heat recovery steam generators.
       
The company has raised its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW per annum and is working towards taking it to 15,000 MW in the next two years with an investment of Rs 4,200 crore.
