The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) standing committee chairman, Ganesh Bidkar, on Friday said the report prepared by IL&FS on the bus rapid transit system (BRTS) in the city is not a proper detailed project report (DPR) and said some drastic decisions would be required to implement it properly.

Bidkar, who is one of the directors of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML), had attended the meeting of board of directors (BoD) of the transport utility on Thursday, where the public transport utility was issued an ultimatum to present a plan by Monday for the effective management of the BRTS.

Bidkar had called a meeting of party leaders in the civic body to discuss the issue on Friday. The Congress, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) boycotted it.

Later, he told media persons that IL&FS was given the responsibility for planning of the dedicated lanes only.

“Surprisingly, it was realised on Friday after a presentation by IL&FS that their report is not a DPR,” he said.

He said a comprehensive DPR for the implementation of the project has not been prepared.

If the project is not implemented, the civic body would be required to pay back Rs1,032 crore to the government, which it had got for BRTS, he said.
