British deputy high commission to turn lights off for earth hour

A number of British Embassies and High Commissions around the world will be participating in the World Wildlife Fund for Nature's fourth annual earth hour event at the end of this week.

Office lighting at the British Deputy High Commission here will be turned off from 20.30 hrs to 21.30 hrs tomorrow, both as a symbolic gesture of support to "Earth Hour" and an energy-saving one.
 

"Promoting a low-carbon,high-growth, global economy is one of the British Government's key foreign policy objectives. We have also tried to make our offices and activities in India more "green" over the last few years and a full green audit has just been completed at Bangalore office", British deputy high commissioner in Bangalore Richard Hyde said.
