Civic body asks the owners of these plots to submit approved plans and other papers.
The estate management and town planning department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has slapped show cause notices on around 53 party plot owners in the new west zone of the city. In the recent notice, the civic body had asked the party plot owners to submit their approved plans and other details. The final decision is expected within a couple of weeks, said sources.
It should be noted that these owners were given notices for illegal construction and the AMC had threatened to seal the plots in Nov ’09. The civic body had initiated a hearing process in which the owners were given a chance to have their say and submit their documents. The hearing process has been completed.
The notices were served to them for not following stipulated rules and failing to keep aside 50% of their areas for parking purpose. However, after the hearing, the civic body had not taken any further steps. The notices have been served only in the new west zone of the city. "The report of the hearing will be furnished before justice Kamal Mehta committee and further decision will be taken after the meeting," said Utpal Padia, deputy municipal commissioner of west zone of the city.
“Some of the party plot owners have created additional space for parking on temporary basis, but that is not a solution. So only one or two managed to get permission to continue their operations,” said sources in AMC.
Interestingly, in the new west zone of the city, only 25% of the total 53 party plots have either approved plans or have the scope of their plans getting approved, the rest could have to face the problems as the area of the plots is less than 2,000 square yards.
"We had made representation from our side during the hearing before the dy municipal commissioner," said one plot owner on condition of anonymity.
