A day after BJP leader Vijayvargiya dubbed Shah Rukh Khan as 'anti-nationalist' over his comment on "extreme intolerance" in the country, controversial BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday compared Bollywood actor with 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.

According to media reports, Yogi Adityanath said that "Shah Rukh Khan and terrorist Hafiz Saeed speak the same language."

Adityanath also said he (Shah Rukh Khan) will be on streets if people don't watch his films.

Earlier in the day, after the uproar over his controversial tweets, Vijayvargiya retracted his comments saying his tweet was misconstrued by some and that he didn't mean to hurt anyone.

Vijayvargiya had condemned Shah Rukh Khan over his comment, saying his "soul" was in Pakistan though he lives in India. He also said that the actor's films made crores of rupees in India and he still thought of India as intolerant.

He said, "My intention was not to hurt anyone. I take back my yesterday's tweet," he said on Twitter on Wednesday morning, even as his party distanced itself from his earlier remarks critical of the actor saying it was "not the view of the BJP".

Meanwhile, Congress demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally render an apology to the Bollywood icon.

"I strongly condemn Kailash Vijavargiya's statement. Modi should personally apologise to Shah Rukh. Shah Rukh, don't worry we stand by you," Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted.
