Karnataka high court murder: Legal fraternity all in a daze after gory sight

All alleys and staircases leading to spot of the murder were jammed with curious litigants and lawyers on Thursday afternoon.

Minutes after the stabbing, an ambulance arrived to take the body of advocate Naveena JS, 23, to the Bowring Hospital for post-mortem.

At the high court, lawyers and judges were in a daze after the gory incident. The courts did not resume proceedings on Thursday, and all hearings scheduled for the day were adjourned to Friday.

A native of Jambapura village, Chintamani taluk, Kolar district, Naveena had graduated from the Government Law College, Kolar, in 2009.

She had worked for 10 months with  Sadashiv Reddy, senior counsel, and former chairman of the Bar Council.

She later moved to assist the work of Prakash Shetty. Senior counsel Sadashiv Reddy said, “Naveena had worked with me for ten months. This is a sad thing. She was an earnest worker and always gave her best.”
