When a person takes up a career as a sports star, it can be a lucrative choice. While some prosper to become world champions, some have to give up midway to cope with their daily struggles.
Many athletes even swap professions for a life performing in adult entertainment. Porn industries have seen female stars get better paid than their male counterparts.
Of course, it is still remarkably rare for a sportsman or woman to quit their sporting career for a slice of x-rated action, but a majority of athletes have turned to porn purely for financial motives.
So here are some athletes who starred in porn films and gave up on their sports dream.
1. Chyna

THE late WWE star Chyna was a member of D-Generation X. She was also a big deal with the organisation during the Attitude Era of the 1990s and early 2000s.
However, it did not keep Chyna satisfied and she switched careers. Her switch meant she had to say goodbye to her wrestling career.
Filming her first sex tape with her ex-boyfriend X-Pac, Chyna kept making adult films until her death in 2016.

Italian footballer Lovinella, who used to play for Serie D side ASD Caldio Pomigliano. Frustrated with his salary, he auditioned for a role in an adult movie and got in.
He had said: "It's not like being in bed with your partner, so you have to work hard and be stable."

Renee Gracie, who was a motorsport racer had switched to become an adult star. She, however, revealed that she was returning to motorsport - a month after she quit to sell sexy pics online.
She earned £14,000-a-week on the OnlyFans site and is now going to use that income to fund her own racing team.
4. Tammy Sytch

Called 'Sunny' in the WWE world, Tammy Sytch had stepped away from the ring in the 1990s. She decided to move into the adult film industry.
She joined OnlyFans, a website that allows subscribers to receive racy videos and photos for a fee. It has been reported that she earns around £250,000-per-year for the move.
5. Verona van de Leur

Named Dutch sportswoman of the year in 2002, gymnast Verona van de Leur career took a nosedive when she suffered a serious injury.
Soon the events led to Verona being homeless for two years, a legal battle with her father, and even a stint behind bars for a blackmail conviction in 2011.
However, she found hope through adult films. "Actually I have no regrets because I was living on the streets ... I would still do it, so I don't have any regrets, not the way I did it, no," she had told CNN.
6. Jonathan 'War Machine' Koppenhaver

Former UFC star Jonathan 'War Machine' Koppenhaver, a move into porn happened naturally. When he was at the greatest height of his career he dated adult film star Christy Mack and fell into the industry.
However, in 2014 he was charged with physically assaulting Mack after he broke 18 bones in her body, rupturing her liver and knocking out her teeth. He is currently serving life in prison.
7. Angelina Graovac

Tennis player, Angelina Graovac was rumoured to join the Adult website OnlyFans in order to fund her career. Graovac had aimed to do the same by selling her steamy pictures to the porn website to earn some extra income.
The 19-year old had decided to take her financial dependability into her own hand as recently a New York health care worker tried to make the ends meet by selling her revealing pictures on the same website.
Her earnings from OnlyFans are still unknown, but she took up this to support her livelihood and supplement her $3,500 earnings from the sport.
