Mumbai: Breastfeeding mom's car towed away by cops, video goes viral

In what can be called a brazen act, Mumbai traffic policemen towed away a breastfeeding mother's car, while she kept screaming for help and repeatedly asked them to slow down the the tow-away truck.

The incident that took place on Saturday, when the two traffic cops towed away the car of a woman in Mumbai's Malad area.

In the video shot by her husband and his friend, the cops are seen taking away the vehicle despite the woman with her seven-month-old baby sitting inside the car.

Her husband's voice can be overheard shouting the name of the accused cop. 'Shashank Rane, answer us... who would be responsible if something happens to the baby,' the husband keeps on repeating.

The woman alleges that there were two other cars but they didn't tow away those cars. She is seen requesting the cops to drive slow as there is baby in the car.

The traffic policemen took the car to Malad Police Station where the woman was fined and let off. Both mother and her baby are said to be in good health.

After the video went viral, Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner (Traffic), said, "The Deputy Commissioner Traffic West Region has been ordered to visit and conduct and enquiry into the incident. The issue will be dealt appropriately and sternly and the report will be submitted to me on Sunday."
