Grey’s Priti Nair quits

MUMBAI: Priti Nair, national creative director, Grey Worldwide, called it quits on Wednesday.

Nair is the brain behind ad campaigns such as Surf Excel (Daag Acche Hain), Bajaj Avenger (I feel like God), Greenply (Janam, janam ka saathi), Greenlam (Dikhaane Ka Jee Kare).

It could not be independently confirmed where Nair is headed for now. However, media reports speculate that Nair will join Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), the British advertising agency, which has been scouting for a candidate to spearhead its operations when it launches in India later this year.

Nair also refused to share the name of the firm that she’s joining, but she told DNA Money, “I’ve spent 10 months at Grey. I plan to take a two-month break, before I join another agency.”

Nair joined Grey in September 2007 from Lowe and her current exit marks the end of her shortest stint in any agency. She has over 17 years of experience in the advertising industry and has worked on brands such as Coca-Cola, Limca, Ariel, Complan, Axe and Surf Excel, amongst others. She started her career at DART Advertising in the early ’90s.

Grey has witnessed several senior-level exits in the recent past.  National creative director Pratap Suthan, the man behind the ‘Incredible India’ campaign, quit in July 2007 to join Cheil Communications.

Nirvik Singh, chairman and CEO, South & South East Asia, Grey Group, said, “These
are restructuring changes as we move from a mere advertising-based business to a communication business. So, people will move on and new talents will come in. We inducted young blood last year and we continue to do so,” he said.

Last year, the agency appointed Jishnu Sen as head of Mumbai’s office, Rupam Ganguly for Delhi and Hari Krishnan for its Bangalore office. Singh was unable to confirm who would replace Nair.

“We are evaluating various options. We could either promote somebody within the agency or hire someone new,” he said.
