‘Warmth and affection is all that I need’

On her birthday, Deepika Padukone doesn’t dismiss the possibility of ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor trying to woo her back.

‘Warmth and affection is all that I need’

Deepika Padukone turns 24 today and she is keen to see some “surprise gifts land at my doorstep miraculously”. However, on the work front, the actor won’t have any respite. Though she has got a day off from the shoot of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, she will be busy promoting her forthcoming flick Karthik Calling Karthik along with Farhan Akhtar.

Deepika says, “Maybe I will do something with my friends later in the day. Since I spent the New Year with my parents in Bangalore, I told them not to come here right now. Though I am not shooting on my birthday, I have loads of work as Farhan and I will be busy with the promotions. I wouldn’t mind some great surprises in my life today. They need not be materialistic ones since I’m not a materialistic person at all. The presence of close people, spending some time with them and warmth and affection is all that I need.”

On her birthday, Deepika also draws a list of things she wishes to do through the year. First of all she wants to take some time off from work and go trekking to north India. Then she also wants to do a lot more philanthropic work.

“This year I don’t think I will have even a minute for myself. But I still do have a wish-list. I am dying to go on a trekking trip to Leh and Ladakh — I have heard many exciting stories about those places,” she says.

However, any interaction with Deepika is incomplete without asking her about Ranbir Kapoor, who reports say has been trying to woo her back post their split.

“I am enjoying whatever is being written about me and my relationships. I would like to keep the mystery of my personal life a mystery,” Deepika says laughing, as she doesn’t dismiss the possibility that Ranbir might be trying to re-ignite their once talk-of-the-town romance.
