Diksha Negi is a small wonder

They say that good things come in small packages and that holds true for 13-year-old Diksha Negi. The girl from Kandivli has already co-directed a highly appreciated short film.

“I didn’t know that I was one of the youngest on the team. But making the film was such fun!” says Diksha. The film is titled MH 26/7 and it is a story about two best friends of different religions and how the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11 affect their lives. “The friendship that they had is no longer the same anymore. Somewhere religion always creeps into their conversations and their relationship goes through a huge change,” she says.

Supported by Ryan International School, this project saw 20 children go through a 20-day rigorous training session on film-making and then put on the task. Right from scripting, handling the camera to editing the rushes, all the work was done by the children.

But is this ardent Shah Rukh Khan fan game for commercial cinema? Well, she isn’t.... “I want to make commercial, but meaningful cinema. These movies are commercial but they are not really the masala ones. They do have a realistic story-line behind them. I would like to write such films,” she says.
