Submerge to knock Bangalore off its socks

In 2003, VJ/DJ Nikhil Chinapa, Pearl and Hermit decide to change the way the country partied. Monotonous music, stereotypical dance moves had them bored! That’s when Submerge was born — a company that decided to promote the true art of partying across the country’s landscape. Not only did they expose party goers to a different kind of a partying scene, they also introduced the audience to new music. Today, Submerge is a force to reckon with.

Arnold Wilson, marketing manager, Rph — Balancing Reputation, organisers of Submerge, talks about the one of the biggest summer parties that is going to hit the city this weekend.

What is the summer music festival all about?
Submerge Supernova 2011, presented by Nestor, is a one-day extravaganza that’s going to be hosted by Nikhil Chinapa, the director of Submerge. Joining him as co-host is Rohit Barker, VJ and RJ at Radio Indigo. The line-up includes more than 20 stellar acts by international and Indian artistes, including Markus Schulz, currently ranking at number eight in the world, DJs Xerox and Illumination, the talented duo from Israel. Spearheaded by DJ Pearl, the day will unfold with further talents like Ma Faiza, Dale Anderson, Brute Force, Nawed Khan to name a few.

What makes a music festival so hot?
Music has no religion. It brings everyone together and its platform for all kinds of people to bond; also Submerge does the best events all over Asia. They do about 20 international tours and about 365 events per year.

For the number of artistes and performances you will be showcasing, how many stages have you arranged for?
There are going to be four stages with two main stages. But that’s not all, we’ve also organised for food courts, a pool side and even a flea market, which we’re calling the chill-out zone!

Be at E-Zone, Marathahalli, noon onwards, on May 15
