India vs New Zealand 1st T20 Result: India lost the first T20 International against New Zealand by 80 runs on Wednesday. Put in to bat, New Zealand made 219/6 with unheralded opener Tim Seifert smashing 84 off 43 balls. In reply, India were bowled out for 139 in 19.2 overs. MS Dhoni top-scored for India with a 31-ball 39. This is India's biggest loss in terms of runs in T20Is. This is also the eighth time that India have been bowled out in the format.

MS Dhoni falls trying a big shot and then another wicket follows. India are all out for 139 as New Zealand win the match by 80 runs.
OUT! Another excellent catch by Seifert. Bhuvneshwar Kumar walks back as the outside edge is taken to his right by the keeper. Seifert dives, sticks his hand out and the ball sticks.
OUT! Tim Southee gets rid of Krunal Pandya. The short ball does the trick, Pandya looks to pull but is late on the shot. It hits the glove, then the helmet and lobs towards the keeper who takes a nice catch diving across to his left.
Krunal Pandya and MS Dhoni have completed 50-run partnership. However, the required run rate is almost out of reach now.
India have gone from 64/2 to 77/6 - MS Dhoni is still there but is there any hope left of an Indian comeback? India reach 97/6 in 14 overs. They still need 123 runs in 36 balls at 20.5 runs per over.
OUT! Hardik Pandya came, hit and now he is gone.

OUT! Santner cleans up Pant. Full and straight from the left-arm spinner, and quick too. Almost a Yorker and Pant has no answer. He was looking fidgety from the moment he walked out. Went for the leg side drive but it was too quick and full. India 64/3
OUT! Shikhar Dhawan has gone as India lose their second wicket. Dhawan goes just after a boundary. Lokie Ferguson cleans him with a corker of a yorker at 151 kph.
Vijay Shankar has come at No.3 and played some great shots to finally get India going. They are 46/1 after 5 overs.
OUT! India lose their first wicket as Lokie Ferguson takes a good catch to send back Rohit Sharma. Tim Southee gets the wicket. India 18/1 in the 3rd over.
Tim Southee bowls a brilliant first over giving away just one. Shikhar Dhawan makes up for it as India score 17 runs in the next.
New Zealand lost a couple of wickets more but still managed to reach 219/6. So, India need 220 runs to win the T20I series opener.
OUT! Ross Taylor hits it straight up in the air and Khaleel just about takes it. Taylor looks to drag his shot on the leg side but only manages a top edge. NZ 191/6 after 18.1 overs
GREAT CATCH! Colin departs off a full toss. He looks to clear the square leg fence but only manages to hit it high up in the air. It is very high, Siraj does really well to settle under it and judges it really well to take a tumbling catch.
OUT! India are making a good comeback here. Chahal drops it short and on middle, Williamson moves back to pull it over mid-wicket but it seems the ball arrives a bit late which results in him mistiming the shot. As a result, Kane doesn't get enough meat behind it and and Hardik in the deep takes the catch easily. NZ 164/4 (15.1 overs)
OUT! Dinesh Karthik pulls off an incredible catch at the fence to send back. Hardik Pandya gets the wicket. Mitchell looks to clear the long on fence but it is not off the middle. Dinesh Karthik takes it and then realizes he is losing his balance. He throws it up, crosses the ropes, comes back and takes it.
BOWLED! Khaleel Ahmed removes Tim Seifert. It's an excellent delivery. Khaleel spears in a fuller length ball on off, Tim remains back to heave it over the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the stumps. He scored 84 runs from 43 balls. NZ 134/2

Chasing a tough 220, India lost the skipper Rohit Sharma early. Ferguson took an excellent catch to dismiss him as Rohit is cramped for room by the short ball from Tim Southee.
