Bangladesh got off to a sedate start, but Sabbir Rahman's impressive 77 of 50 ensured his team got to a respectable 168/8 from their 20 overs. With the pressure of a final surely being a factor in the chase, Bangladesh knew they had a solid chance at the halfway mark.

For India, it was Yuzvendra Chahal who bowled the key spell. The leg-spinner's 3 for 18 from 4 overs helped restrict the Bangladeshi batsman in the middle overs.

4. Captain lays the platform

The Indian captain had struck form in the previous match, and he carried it forward in the final. Rohit Sharma's 56 of 42 was crucial, but it was undone because of the steady fall of wickets at the other end.

Dinesh Karthik walked in to bat when Indian fans had lost all hope. With 34 needed from the final 12 balls, the Bangladeshis wouldn't be judged for dreaming about how they'd celebrate the night. But DK had other plans.

Hitting the first ball he faced for six, Karthik went on to play the innings of a lifetime. The keeper-bat went on to blast 29 runs from eight balls to steer his team to victory. India needed five of the last ball, and DK managed to get a maximum. Team India won the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, and Dinesh Karthik earned a permanent spot in the hearts of millions of fans.
