Divya Bharti was touted to be the next big thing in the Hindi film industry, however, her tragic and untimely death on April 5, 1993, left the industry reeling in shock, and all the films that she was supposed to star in eventually went to other actresses.

1. Divya Bharti was replaced by Juhi Chawla in 'Kartavya'

Raj Kanwar's directorial 'Kartavya' starred Divya Bharti in the lead and she had even shot for the film. After her death, Juhi Chawla was asked to fill in for her as the lead.
2. Divya Bharti was replaced by Kajol in 'Hulchul'

Anees Bazmee had marked his directorial debut in 1995 with 'Hulchul'. The film was initially supposed to feature Divya in the lead, but after her sudden death, Kajol replaced her. Kajol was cast in the film opposite her now-husband Ajay Devgn.
3. Divya Bharti was replaced by Raveena Tandon in 'Mohra'

One of the most popular films of the 90s 'Mohra' had Divya Bharti as its leading actress opposite Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. Divya had also reportedly shot a few scenes of the film before she was replaced by Raveena Tandon after her death. Directed by Rajiv Rai, 'Mohra' was a huge hit when it was released in 1994.
4. Divya Bharti was replaced by Sridevi in 'Laadla'

Divya Bharti was signed on as a leading lady opposite Anil Kapoor in the 1994 film 'Laadla'. However, after her tragic death, Divya was replaced by Sridevi. Raveena Tandon and Shakti Kapoor also played important roles in the film.

Twenty-eight years on and '90s star Divya Bharti's death still remains an unsolved mystery. Bharti was all of 19 when she fell from her Mumbai apartment's balcony to her death on April 5, 1993. Over two decades have passed since and there's still little clarity on what actually happened on the night of her death. Conspiracy theories range from murder, accident to even suicide. Divya was married to producer Sajid Nadiadwala at the time.
