AR Rahman hits back at the trolls slamming his daughter Khatija's niqab in the best way ever...
Ace music composer AR Rahman recently celebrated a decade of the Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire's music. At the event, Rahman's daughter Khatija Rahman delivered an emotional speech about his father and what all has changed in the past 10 years.
While her speech gathered a lot of love and appreciation from all quarters, there were a few naysayers who began slamming the noted composer for allegedly forcing her daughter to wear a niqab. Some even went on to call him a 'hypocrite' having 'double standards'.
Known to be a man of few words, AR Rahman gave it back to the haters in the best way ever.

AR Rahman, who's known to be a bit reticent, took to his Twitter account to hit back at the trolls. He shared a picture of the ladies of his family with Nita Ambani and wrote, alongside, "The precious ladies of my family Khatija ,Raheema and Sairaa with NitaAmbaniji #freedomtochoose". In the picture, Rahman's wife Sairaa and daughter Raheema can be seen clad in salwar kameez while daugther Khatija can be seen wearing her burkha and niqab.

2. Khatija too slammed the trolls on her Facebook page

Not just Rahman, his daughter too took to her Facebook page to give a befitting reply to the haters. She clarified how wearing a niqab is her choice and that it hasn't been forced upon her. In a humble Facebook post, Khatija wrote, "The recent conversation of myself on stage with my dad has been doing the rounds although I didn't expect such an overwhelming response. However, there were certain comments which said that this attire is being forced by my dad and that he has double standards. I would like to say that the attire I wear or the choices I make in my life does not have anything to do with my parents. The veil has been my personal choice with complete acceptance and honour. (sic)"

Further highlighting the freedom of choice, Khatija added in her Facebook post, "I'm a sane mature adult who knows to make my choices in life. Any human being has a choice to wear or do what he/she wants and that's what I've been doing. Hence, kindly don't make your own judgements without understanding the exact situation #freedomofchoice. (sic)"
In the other pictures shared by Khatija on her social media page, she can be seen clad in a veil while her sister can be seen dressed casually. So, blaming Rahman for allegedly conditioning his daughter to wear a veil is completely uncalled for.

4. Khatija's emotional speech of father AR Rahman on 10 years of Slumdog Millionaire

As Slumdog Millionaire clocked 10 years recetly, AR Rahman's daughter gave a moving speech on the occasion. At an event marking the 10 years of the film, Khatija had said, "Though the world knows you for your music and the award that you won, I have immense love and respect for you because of the values they taught us (three of his children). Your humility matters the most for me. Not an atom of your character has changed ever since you won the Oscar, nothing has changed in you in the last 10 years except the time you spend with us has reduced. I think you are making it up now by taking us on short trips!"

Those who've come in late, AR Rahman had made the entire country swell with pride when he bagged two Academy Awards for Slumdog Millionaire. He was awarded in the categories of Best Original Score and Best Original Song (shared with Gulzar).
