Adam Scott denies relationship with Ivanovic affecting his game

American golfer Adam Scott has denied that his relationship with Serbian tennis star Ana Ivanovic is affecting his game.

With his world ranking plunging from a career-high No.3 to No.62, assumptions are being made that his relationship with Ivanovic had been a distraction.

Scott refused to pay heed to such speculation, saying that his relationship with Ivanovic was playing no part in his form slump.

“I don't know how to respond to that. Should I not have a girlfriend? I tried to do everything that I felt was 100 per cent right for me this year. I wasn't working on the right things for a period of time and it took a long time to work out what was right again,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Scott, as saying.

“We do what we can, but it's no different than any other relationship that I've been in. I've never had someone travel with me so we see each other when we can. I heard it reported that I'd gone to Wimbledon instead of playing Tiger's event, but I was never playing his event. It's just false reporting,” he added.

Now, despite the nagging knee injury that prompted his withdrawal from last year's Australian Open, Scott is confident about his prospects in the Australian Masters and beyond.

“I believe I spent a long time in the top 10 in the world consistently and I certainly feel like I'm good enough to be there again. So, I'll go about my business and hopefully the ranking will take care of itself,” he added.
