Pope Francis' biopic set for big screen debut

An Argentine-Spanish biopic of Pope Francis is reportedly in the works.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the biopic is based on Vatican correspondent Elisabetta Pique's biography titled Pope Francis: Life and Revolution: A Biography of Jorge Bergoglio.

The movie will be made under the banner of Filmsharks and will revolve around Cardinal Bergoglio's life and work before he became the head of the Church. The story will involve a young Spanish journalist (Abascal) who meets Bergoglio at the 2005 conclave.

Producer Pablo Bossi confirmed that the movie will be helmed by Beda Docampo Feijoo (Camila) and will star Dario Grandinetti in the lead role of former Buenos Aires archbishop Jorge Bergoglio.

Docampo Feijoo, who will direct the movie and has also penned the script, asserted that they hope this film will transmit the admiration all of them feel for the coherence of a life based on austerity and charity, and that will inspire people.
