Dinda, Ashwin for T20s

S Sreesanth’s comeback to international cricket was complete on Wednesday after he was included in India’s Twenty20 and ODI squads (first two games) against Sri Lanka. The pacer is part of both 15-man squads that was announced by the national selection committee on Wednesday.

Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh have been rested for the two T20 games. Ashok Dinda and R Ashwin have made their way into the T20 squad. Ashish Nehra has also found a place in both the squads but his Delhi teammate, Ishant Sharma, has been excluded from the squad for the ODIs.

The K Srikkanth-headed panel has opted to try out a few promising youngsters who have done well on the domestic circuit. Dinda, the 25-year-old pacer from Bengal, shot into limelight in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, and has been a consistent performer in the Ranji Trophy. R Ashwin is an offie from Tamil Nadu and also a useful batsman down the order. His all-round abilities will provide variety to the team in the slam-bang format of the game.

The T20 games will be played in Nagpur and Mohali on December 9 and 12, while the first two of the five ODIs will be held in Rajkot (December 15) and Visakhapatnam (December 21).
