Humming with activity till this morning, BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani's residence wore a deserted look as news of NDA's poor showing in the Lok Sabha polls trickled in.

Since morning, a frenzied media stationed itself outside the 30, Prithviraj Road residence and a number of BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh went into a huddle at Advani's residence.

Terming results as 'unexpected', a disappointed Singh said, "The party will analyse the results in detail."

A visibly disappointed Naidu refused to speak to the media, but just said the Parliamentary Board of the party will react to the results later in the evening.

The scene outside his residence, where no BJP supporter was present, was in total contrast with that of the 10 Janpath which has been buzzing with activity as Congress is set to retain power at the Centre.

As the buzz about BJP forming the Government died down, even media people started leaving the place.

"He has lost the plot, there is no point in waiting here," said a TV journalist who has been covering BJP for the last couple of years.

The security personnel at Advani's residence were also disappointed.

"Sweets are being distributed at 10 Janpath, but there is nothing here...Advani will not become PM this time too," a disheartened security personnel said.

"A group of people with drums and other musical instruments were supposed to come here but now they have been asked not come," another security personnel said.

Silence could be seen at BJP headquarters too as supporters started marching out of the office as soon as results poured in.

Mediapersons stationed at the party office, which was centre of attraction in the morning, started leaving the place by the afternoon as the picture became a bit clearer in favour of Congress.

"I am sad by seeing the results. We have really never expected it. BJP's performance has gone down as compared to the previous elections," said Ramcharan, a BJP supporter who had come here from Uttar Pradesh along with five other supporters to celebrate the party's victory.

The party relied on two-three party leaders who were seen interacting with media and party workers.

"Winning and losing is part of politics. So what if we have lost the elections, we will be sitting in the opposition," a senior BJP leader said.

Hardly 20-30 workers were left at the BJP office with a handful of mediapersons.
