700 held copying in maths exam

A total of 2,200 people across the state have been caught copying during this year’s SSC examinations till Wednesday.

While 2,200 people across the state have been caught copying during this year’s SSC examinations till Wednesday, the number of people caught during the mathematics papers on Thursday and Friday has gone up to 700. 

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education sent letters to all collectors and tehsildars asking them to be extra vigilant on Thursday and Friday, when mathematics paper-I (algebra) and mathematics paper-II (geometry) were scheduled. “We were expecting more copying cases on these two days,” said Basanti Roy, the secretary of the Mumbai Divisional Board. Officers of the Zilla Parishads were also asked to increase the numbers of flying squads.

“During the algebra paper on Thursday, 300 cases were detected and on Friday, 400 cases came to light,” said Vijaysheela Sardesai,  the chairperson of the Maharashtra state board.
