Hollywood ‘filmy’ ishtyle mein

Stand up comedians Sunil Pal and Raju Srivastava will be seen in Sahara’s Filmy channel. The channel has a new initiative ‘Firangi Filmy’. And, in keeping with it’s tradition of creating unique and entertaining content around films, the channel has got the duo to present these films in their distinctive never seen before style.

This slot will see 13 Hollywood films dubbed in Hindi.  The names of the films have been decided by the channel to ensure the ‘Filmy’ feel across all aspects. In a segment ‘Hot Break’ that will be aired between ad breaks, the duo will present their trademark humour in a very distinct manner that is relevant to the film being shown.

“The stand-up comedy is very different to what I have done so far. An atmosphere is built up and I appear as different characters doing a spoof on the film being shown,” says Sunil.

Appearing on many other comedy based show on television, Sunil says it was his love for movies that made him take up this offer. Taking inspiration from real life, he says his forte is doing spoofs on films and big screen characters.

 “It was the theme of creating humour on films, that too, Hollywood films, that made me accept this. I will be seen in the breaks of seven films in various get ups. When English films are dubbed in Hindi, there is a lot of scope to entertain on it in 90 seconds. I would rather do concrete roles on TV than do inconsequent role in films.” says Raju.

Shailesh Kapoor, Marketing & Content Head, Filmy says, “While dubbed films are not new on Indian television, this is the first time they will be dubbed, packaged and promoted in a Bollywood way.”
