Tina in a Pak serial

The petite Tina Parakh who plays Shruti in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Mukti in Kasautii Zindagi Kay has just returned from Dubai after shooting for the Pakistani serial Dhadkan. The serial will be telecast on the ARY channel.

What was it that led to this crossover? “It’s an exciting serial with three parallel stories. I am paired opposite the Pak TV heartthrob Imraan. Even Sakshi Tanwar ( Parvati bhabhi and Tina’s mother in ‘Kahani…’) is part of the cast. But we don’t have any scenes together as the Pakistani actor Ambar plays my mother. I play the doosri begum of the hero.”

Recently Tina won accolades for her performance as a rape-victim in Kasautii…’ She recalls, “It was exhausting but creatively satisfying. Unlike other rape scenes where the victim screams and grapples with the rapist, here I was drugged and in a trance. My outburst when I recall the nightmare had fear, pain and frustration as I didn’t know the face of the rapist (actor Karan Singh).”

Incidentally, Tina also appeared in the reality show Fear Factor with snakes slithering all over her. 

She recalls,“This was yet another trauma. Imagine a thick menacing python gliding on my chest, a tiny grass-snake forking its tongue and over 90 snakes entangled with each other curling around my body. When I would pull them apart, they would stiffen all the more around me.”

Tina continues, “ But I eventually got out without any sting-bites. My friends say that I am a ‘snake-charmer’.  Maybe my being a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva helped.”

Tina may soon be hosting shows on television. “After anchoring the Sabse Badaa Fan contest, I’ve realized my flair for it,” she signs off.
