Official sources said that heavy police and central-para military personnel were deployed in Imphal and other places where the minister, who is scheduled to arrive late this afternoon accompanied by ministry officials, would visit.

Security measures were tightened at many places in militancy-affected Manipur in view of the Union home minister, P Chidambaram's two-day visit beginning from today.
Official sources said that heavy police and central-para military personnel were deployed in Imphal and other places where the minister, who is scheduled to arrive late this afternoon accompanied by ministry officials, would visit.
Round-the-clock patrolling in the capital complex and random checking of passers-by were being carried out for the past few days.
Soon after his arrival, the minister would hold meetings with representatives of student bodies and NGOs to assess their views on the prevailing situation in the state.
The sources said Chidambaram would hold a high level meeting with chief minister O Ibobi Singh and senior civil and security officials tomorrow to discuss the law and order situation in the state.
The minister would also visit interior Bishenpur and Churachandpur district tomorrow before returning to Delhi.
