HYDERABAD: Senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP and second-in-command A Narendra was on Wednesday suspended from the party in the wake of his name figuring in the human trafficking case.

Narendra, who represents Medak constituency in the Lok Sabha, incurred the wrath of the party leadership following reports that he had allegedly tampered with the passports of two of his party MPs while his personal assistant had a role in human trafficking.

"The reports linking Narendra with human trafficking scandal are unfortunate. It has now emerged that he had kept in his possession the passports of fellow MPs Madhusudan Reddy and Ravindra Naik and they bore the stampings of some foreign countries. This clearly vindicates the charges of his involvement in the case," TRS sources said.

Narendra has denied the allegations of his or his staff members involvement in the human trafficking case.

The decision to suspend the senior leader was taken in the interests of the future of the Telangana statehood movement, the sources said.

A show-cause notice would be sent to Narendra asking him to explain why he should not be expelled from the party, they added.

Narendra has been nursing a strained relationship with the party's founder-President and MP K Chandrasekhar Rao for a long time now, sparking speculation from time to time over his exit from the party.

The suspension came in the midst of hectic preparations for the party's rally to be held at Warangal on April 27.

Narendra, a former BJP MP, has been associated with TRS since its inception.

Narendra had quit the saffron party and floated his own outfit "Telnagana Sadhana Samithi" which he subsequently merged with TRS.
