The arrests came after police received inputs that Ali was allegedly engaged in trafficking of heroin on a large scale. "It was also learnt that he received drug consignments from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly in bulk for further supply to retailers in Delhi and Western UP," Thakur said.

"To conceal his activities, Ali put up a board 'Al-Haque Properties' in his office in Wazirabad and was posing as a property dealer of the area. He is called 'Haji'and considered a respected person. Since he never sold or bought heroin at his residence, no one suspected his activities. His main supply was to his close sources or retailers in East Delhi and western UP," Thakur said.

According to Thakur, Naushad used to procure crude heroin from Jharkhand and after purifying it supply the same to Ali. Earlier, Naushad was engaged in farming in his village. Later, he came in contact with Ali through one Siraj of his village and started supplying heroin to him. Khan is the nephew of Naushad. He used to work as a helper to Naushad.
