1. Rasputin was born a peasant
Rasputin was born in a remote Siberian village to peasant parents. His father was an illiterate farmer.
2. Rasputin had a wife and seven children
Rasputin married a peasant girl named Praskovya Dubrovina and the couple went on to have seven children.
3. Rasputin spent several months at a monastery
In 1897, Rasputin went on a pilgrimage to the Saint Nicholas Monastery at Verkhoturye. There, he changed completely and returned to his village as a totally changed man. For next few years, Rasputin travelled around the country as a self-styled holy man. Rasputin claimed to have powers to heal the sick and that's why he was introduced to Czar and his wife because their only son was suffering a from a life-threatening disease.
