One should contribute in all possible ways
In response to, ‘Are you ready to switch off to turn green?’ (Speak Up, Dec 11)
There are many places in the city that still have load shedding, whereas a few areas enjoy electricity 24*7 and misuse this facility.

Campaigns like batti bandh should happen regularly so that people understand the importance of electricity and don’t waste it.

I’m sure common man can participate and contribute in such small ways for better future and to help save the planet.

Don’t blame others for our bad habits
In response to, ‘Movies widening the smoke ring?’ (Speak Up, Dec 7)
I cannot believe that the World Health Organisation conducted a survey to find out if smoking on screen can influence common man, especially youngsters.

As a child each one of us are taught what is right and what is wrong, but yet if some fall the wrong part so why blame the others. If one follows what one sees in movies or what an actor does, then why not follow the ‘good’ things, like helping others as all heroes do that.

Educated or not, we all know that if one doesn’t know swimming one will drown, if one plays with fire one shall get burn. And books or films most are fictional. So blaming movies for our action just because we are too weak to control our habit is stupidity.

If people feel or think that movies are behind increasing smokers than it is a juvenile thought.
