Condom machines don’t make sex maniacs
Making condoms freely available is a good decision on part of the government as it will not only promote safe sex, it will also bring sex out of the closet. I don't think that sexual promiscuity will increase because condoms are made freely available but even if it does it is better than having unsafe sex.

What is more important than installing condom vending machines is spreading awareness about safe sex and HIV/AIDS. The government should strive to change the perception of people towards sex. In India, talking about  sex is considered taboo. The government should deal with it in a more mature manner.

Putting up condom vending machines is a good idea but this should not stop here. The mindset of Indians is different than that of Europeans or Americans and we need to understand that. We can't just ape them, and believe if it works for them, it should work for us. It's a good idea but it will take some time for people to warm up to it.

It's just a drop in the ocean and should not stop here. Only by making condoms freely available the govt cannot hope to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS. What we need is more awareness about sex and bringing the topic out of the closet. Till sex is not discussed freely, ignorance will continue to take its toll.
