City’s new song... Ula La La La Le Yo

A lesson for the government
It's high time that the government gives Formula1 the due it deserves as a sport in our country. Inclusion in the Olympics is not the criteria on which the government should judge a sport. F1 has a huge amount of fan following in India. This win by Force India will hopefully push the government into the right direction of giving F1 the status of a sport in our country. It's been a long journey for Force India and I hope that they continue with their winning streak and it shouldn't be just one time wonder.

Force India, my second choice
The Force India team had got an upgrade on their car because of that their performance has improved tremendously. The team will do well in F1 in the years ahead. This would be good for the team, as Force India has the smallest budget in Formula 1. This is a slap on the government who stated that F1 is not a sport; it doesn't develop competitiveness in their participants. I am flying off to Italy and will watch the race. I support Ferrari but now my second preference will undoubtedly be Force India.

Force India is now on F1 map
I am happy with Force India performance. I am hopeful that this will keep Force India on the F1 map. The unprecedented win has shown the team’s hard work. Now the task will be tougher to keep the rhythm of moving ahead. This is not the first time that any team has won the race in a very less budget however, earlier too some has shown the same potential. But the good  thing is that India has entered into a new venture and there is possibility of new craze about the racing in India too.

Motivational win for small teams
The narrow misses in the past and yesterday's win will definitely make Force India a 'force' to reckon with. Car racing is something that excites people around the world; and Indians have their fair share of this odometer-induced euphoria. Such wins are sure to instigate a new found passion for car racing. It also prove motivational for other small budget teams to enter the race. Yet, I firmly believe that this sport does require big moolah to be spent on training, equipment, technology and drivers.

Till now, A1 was the only option
People should realise that F1 is a huge sport and a podium finish is as important as winning any cricket championship. There has been a lot of following for car racing in India but it's limited to big cities only. Also, we don't have F1 tracks here; if  we had any, I am sure we would have a lot more to offer the world. A lot of aspiring drivers take up  A1 racing — the closest one can get to achieve their dreams of driving. But a few more wins will be a booster to enhance this sport.

We are no longer at the bottom
The win has not only put us on the F1 map but will also change the car racing scenario in India. It will attract more sponsors which means more money and better technology. Force India's podium finish and first points ever has improved its ranking in the constructor championship. We are no longer at the bottom; and I hope it is just the beginning for us. The plan to develop a circuit (racing track) in Delhi will also prove beneficial to the team. And it will add to the popularity of the sport in the country.

Waiting for Karthikeyan to win
It is a one-off win and that to after many attempts. The win will get all the hype now but we need to remember that the driver is not an Indian. So,  India will be on the F1 map only when an Indian, Narain Karthikeyan or Karun Chandok, win a race. F1 is already catching up in a big way with the Indians, so this will only add to promoting the sport in the country. People today are not just hooked onto  cricket or football. Youngsters are lapping up the sports like the older generation lapped up only cricket.

In just two years, the team has evolved
Force India's win is a well deserved win and it has given the team a lot of credibility. When Vijay Mallya bought the Spykar team in 2007, they were back runners. But over the span of two years, he has transformed the team and shown the world and the critics what they are capable of. The weekend's win has shown that we are no longer back runners we capable of finishing at the top. It has definitely put Force India on the map and will be respected in the F1 circuits.
As for the popularity of the game back home, it is still cut off from the domestic sports scenario. There is no doubt that it has it shares of fans but they are limited to big cities only. Such achievements by Force India or by individuals like me or Narain Karthikeyan will surely help in increasing its popularity, especially among the youngsters. Also, it might change our minister's point of view and they might look at it as a sport rather than an entertainer.
Mallya's comment that 'money alone cannot buy you success' will get a yes and a no from me. When it comes to a day's competition then money doesn't matter. It was this year's first podium win and they might also follow the same zeal in the next two-three races too and win. But winning every weekend is quite different from winning three or four weekends in a year. Therefore, it does require money and high end technology to be on top of the game, always.
