La Tagliatella Italian Restaurant in Shanghai, China Now Open

SHANGHAI, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AmRest HK Limited, a HK Company, today announced new details about its La Tagliatella Italian restaurant, now open in the Hongkau District of Shanghai.  In addition to its traditional Italian name, the restaurant is also being branded for the Chinese market as Chun Yi Tang – Pure Italian Heaven.

La Tagliatella is located at 138 Rui Hong Road (near Linping Road) in a new Shui-On development that includes approximately 600 condo units.  It is the first La Tagliatella to be located outside of Europe and introduces Chinese diners to authentic Northern Italian cuisine served in a classic Italian setting.  The restaurant has 181 seats inside and also includes a 64-seat terrace at street level for open air dining.

"We haven't made any changes to the menu and are using the same premium imported ingredients and recipes from the Italian regions of Liguria, Piamonte and Reggio Emilia found in La Tagliatella restaurants throughout Europe," said Greg Walther, chief executive officer of AmRest HK Limited.  "In addition, the authentic, stylized decor for which La Tagliatella is recognized has been imported and installed, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an Italian villa with ornate carvings, deep red and gold paint, and brick and stone detailing."

La Tagliatella, founded in 1991, currently has more than 135 restaurants and is the fastest growing European casual dining brand.  The key to La Tagliatella's success lies in its fine dining experience at casual dining prices.  Customers enjoy high quality cuisine created from the best Italian base ingredients, such as Parmigiano Reggiano DOP that is cured in caves for 24 months, and authentic mozzarella di bufala prepared from the traditional recipe.  Furthermore, the brand offers an extensive menu, where customers can find more than 400 combinations of pasta and sauces, pizzas made in traditional Italian ovens, risottos, salads, hand crafted desserts and more.  La Tagliatella's menu can be found at www.latagliatella.com.cn.

La Tagliatella Shanghai serves an enlarged beverage list, including a large selection of wines, "mocktails", smoothies and other mixed drinks.  In recognition of Chinese custom, afternoon tea and a selection of sweets will also be served each day from 3:00 to 5:00 PM

Serving the throng of diners since the doors opened is a highly trained staff of approximately 50 employees. The general manager spent more than a month learning La Tagliatella's systems and culture in Europe, and a team of ten professional trainers came from Europe for six weeks to train the rest of La Tagliatella's staff.  All employees are full-time and most are multi-lingual, adding further to the cosmopolitan atmosphere.  In addition, employees will have an opportunity to participate in the success of the restaurant through profit-sharing and other incentive programs.

"With outstanding food, beautiful surroundings, and superior service, we believe this will become one of Shanghai's most popular dining establishments," added Walther.  "We are excited about this opening and are enjoying the opportunity to introduce a little Old World flavor to one of the world's truly exciting international cities."

AmRest HK Limited is a joint venture between AmRest Holding SE (WSE: EAT), an international fast-food and casual dining restaurant operator with nearly 700 restaurants in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and Stubb's Asia Limited, a partnership led by Walther, who has extensive experience with international western, casual dining concepts.  For more information, visit www.AmRestChina.com.
