‘India in Love’ is a fresh look at the sexual revolution that is starting to sweep through urban India. Ira Trivedi  travelled from Shillong in the northeast to Chennai in the south, Konark in the east to Mumbai in the west, and over a dozen other cities and towns to gain unprecedented insights into changing sexual mores, marriage and love in 21st century India.
Q: What pushed you to write about love and sex in India?
A: Well, this book is about young people in India and it is very relevant in today’s India. It speaks to every young person, wherever. Also I have always found my country very interesting -there is always something big going on. The book combines two very important subjects.

Q: Which part of the book do you personally connect to?
A: On a more personal note I too have been through a lot of the situations mentioned in the book. I was in the 'marry go round' for so long so I could relate to the anxiety and the emotions of so many people. I have talked to so many marriage brokers that I actually got some people married over the course of writing the book!

Q: How was your journey while writing the book?
A: Oh it was really very time- consuming. It took me four years to complete it! I visited 15 cities, met and interviewed 600 people! So yes, it was a difficult journey, but at the end it has all been worth it and it reflects in the book.

Q: How does the book touch upon sexualities of the LGBT community?
A: LGBT rights are a very important right now, an entire chapter of the book talks about it and how people perceive different sexualities. In my opinion, we are too confused about our thoughts on love, marriage and sexuality. This confusion leads to even more hypocrisy in our society, though I am confident that we will get better with time and we will embrace all sexualities.

Q: Why do you think your book will appeal to the audience of Pune?
A: Visiting Pune was a big part for my research. The city has so many colleges in which students from vibrant cultures come to study in. So many youngsters explore and discover their sexualities here as they get the freedom to do so. So my book will definitely connect with all the youngsters here who are exploring their sexualities. The book has so much different information that there is something in it for everyone.

Q: Which part of the book should the audience look forward to the most?

A: The whole book! There is so much different information in it that all the age groups will connect to it. There is something in it for everyone. I also hope like my other works this one it gets translated so more people can have access to it.
