In a first, transgender community launched an awareness campaign in Odisha’s tribal areas to aware pregnant women to nourish their new-born babies. Odisha based transgender community led by All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangh Meera Parida organised a ‘nukkad natak’ (street play) named "NUA MAA" in tribal areas to aware pregnant women about government schemes for pregnant women and children. 60 transgenders participated in the social awareness campaign. NUA MAA awareness campaign launched to aware families in tribal areas as well as in villages to take benefit of schemes provided by the government for women and children. It is the first time in the country that the transgender community stood up for a social cause related to women and children.
