Twitter users urge PM Modi, RS Prasad to ban TikTok, say it's being used to promote 'jihad'

On Wednesday, several Twitter users urged Law Minister and IT Minister RS Prasad and PM Modi to ban the app TikTok claiming it was being used to promote ‘jihad’ and other ‘anti-national agenda’.

On Wednesday, several Twitter users urged Law Minister and IT Minister RS Prasad and PM Modi to ban the app TikTok claiming it was being used to promote ‘jihad’ and other ‘anti-national agenda’.

The request comes up after the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police registered a complaint against a group of people for allegedly circulating a video on TikTok related to the mob lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand.
A complaint into the matter was filed with the Mumbai Police by Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki. The activist has said that TikTok has since deleted the video and also suspended the accounts of three people who circulated it.

"I have been informed by TikTok that the video was removed from the platform and the three accounts were suspended after my complaint. Suspension in TikTok means that they can not log into their accounts and can't post anything there," said Solanki.
The matter is being further investigated.

Now a day after the incident, mr faisu has put out an apology saying, "We would like to apologise sincerely if any people have felt hurt by our video. Hamara irada, kisi ka dil dukhana, ya unka apmaan karna, nahi tha. Humne video ko nikaal diya hai. Jai Hindi!" (Our intention was not to hurt anyone, or insult anyone. The video has been removed, Jai Hind!)

The matter came to light after Shiv Sena IT Cell core committee member Ramesh Solanki filed a complaint against the group LT Marg Police station in Mumbai and submitted his complaint against the Tik Tok user who uploaded the controversial video.

Following the complaint, the alleged video was pulled out from the TikTok while the account of the group who've uploaded the video was also suspended.

Tabrez Ansari was attacked by a mob in Kharsawan district of Jharkhand on the suspicion of theft on June 18.

He was beaten up mercilessly for hours before being handed over to the police. He succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on June 22.
Tabarez's family has alleged that the attack was communal and that he was made to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman'.
TikTok, an app that allows users to create and share short videos with special effects, has over 54 million monthly active users in India.
