Review: Kannada film 'Ko Ko'

Film: Ko Ko  (Kannada)
Cast: Kitty, Priyamani, Bullet Prakash, Anu Prabhakar
Director: Chandru
Rating: **

Director Chandru rolls out the game of love at the Box office this weekend. Ko Ko is the story of Kitty (Srinagara Kitty), a focused IAS aspirant, whose life however takes a complete U-turn after he is mistaken to be top cop Srihari’s (Srihari) sister Kaveri’s (Priyamani) lover. He wants Kaveri to clear the air but she is no mood to oblige until she unites with her true lover. Hoping to make life simpler, Kitty decides to help her run away from home to go to her actual lover; however, in the process, he  fuels more misconceptions. Will he at least succeed in helping Kaveri find her true love?

The film is just not a love story but also a tug of war between a common man and the city’s police commissioner. Chandru sets aside ample space for brother-sister sentiments as well. In his first venture with Kitty, the filmmaker attempts an image make-over. He packs a lot of action scenes for Kitty but the actor still seems more comfortable in his lover boy avatar.
In fact it is Srihari who makes the most of all the action scenes. What fails him however is the dubbing. Priyamani is at her usual best and even sizzles in a seductive number. In fact, she and Kitty make quite a good on-screen couple.

Anu Prabhakar has little to do as the caring sister-in-law. Ravi Kale also lands an insignificant role. Harshika Poonacha makes a brief appearance while Sanjana is shown dancing to a not-so-hot number. Bullet Prakash however stands out with his performance. He tickles your funny bone right from the beginning. Popular musician Ramana Gokula has scored the music. But none of his songs linger on.

Ko Ko is your mundane commercial potboiler. It brings with it a few twists and turns but it’s not too long before you figure out what’s awaiting you at the end of the road.
