I miss dad a lot: Soniya Mehra

Late actor Vinod Mehra’s Aahat that also has Jaya Bachchan and Amrish Puri in the lead is releasing 36 years since it finished its shooting and evidently his daughter Soniya is elated about the development.

“Unfortunately I was very young when my dad past away. So, I have very few memories of him. But I’m sure that they must have had a good time shooting for it. I always hear stories about how he was really shy on the sets and always respected the ladies. My mother always endorses it,” Soniya tells After Hrs.

In this joyous moment Soniya says she is missing her dad’s presence beside her. “I miss him a lot. Seeing the film’s posters everywhere makes me feel like he’s still around. I’m sure he’s ecstatic wherever he is. It’s so wonderful that 18 years after his demise people still remember and love him just as much. I’ve got so many messages on my Twitter regarding the same and it really touches me to know that he created this wonderful, respected image for himself and will never be forgotten,” she says.

Ask Soniya given a chance which of her father’s films would she choose to be cast in, and she shoots: “I would like to be cast in Ghar most definitely. That was by far my most favourite. It would be an honour to play Rekha aunty’s role. I love her and idolise her.”
The young actor also got talking about her forthcoming project. “I’m
currently doing Abhay Deol’s home production Basra directed by Navdeep Singh. The cast has Abhay, Nikhil Dwivedi, Shahana Goswami and Chitrangada Singh as a special appearance. It’s an amazing script, and I’m looking forward to it going on the floors. I’m also working on two other projects which I can’t reveal much about yet,” she signs off.
